      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

      Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
      Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof) etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
      If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
      As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
      Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
      Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
      Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
      Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
      Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here. 
        §10 Images in posts
      When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
      .gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
      Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
      Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
      Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
      It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   Section II: Forum Signatures   §1 Signature Dimensions
      To avoid clutter, please make sure your signature (if you choose to have one) does not exceed the following size limit: 350x150 pixels. Your signature may consist of images, user bars and text elements, as long as the total size does not exceed 550 x 200 pixels. A small tolerance will be given, but any signature larger than the limit may at any time be deleted without prior warning. If you are not sure whether your signature is acceptable, please PM a moderator.   §2 Signature Content
      All rules of section 1 fully apply to your signature. We will remove signatures or parts of signatures without notice if they violate the forum rules, and infractions may be given.   §3 Animated Signatures
      Please refrain from using animated .gifs as signatures, they distract and clutter the forum.   Section III: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
      There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
      Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
      Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
      Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
      If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
      You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  2. Hi, So im about to update Squad to it's newest 9.4 version. But somehow, my steam always shows it as "Preallocating" on the download page, when im updating Squad. When i try to download Dota 2 update, it runs perfectly, i tried it (updating Dota) after i realise Squad Preallocating stuck. Anyone know how to fix this? EDIT: IT'S WORKING NOW!   3. Looking at how far Squad has come I've started wondering how close we are to having a "mostly feature complete" version of the game. Helicopters were the farthest stretch goal on Kickstarter. With the exception of mortars and IEDs I'm not sure what is left to be added to the game. I want Helicopters but if that has to come from a mod I'm fine with that. So what do you think? Beta soon?

  5. Hey everyone. So I don't post here too often, but this is a topic I wanted to hear people's honest thoughts and opinions on. Before you read any further, this is not a hate or rant thread. I am trying to gather honest opinions on what the regulars in Squad think. In my opinion, v7 has made the game less fun, and by a lot. Between the crashing, performance decrease, and gameplay changes, and even with the addition of vehicles, I feel like the game is much less playable and enjoyable. Before anyone says it's Alpha and that the bugs will be fixed, I know. We all know. My real complaint here is with how v7 was rolled out in such a broken state, along with trying to understand how vehicles were meant to enhance the gameplay. That is why they were added I would imagine, to make the game less fun and more tactical. Since the addition of vehicles, it seems Squads no longer stay together. Squad leaders waste a ton of time trying to claim vehicles either at base or remotely from somewhere else. Vehicles seem to have little to no effect even when manned by good veteran crews. In fact, none of the maps even seem to be designed for vehicles, even Yehorivka. Vehicles feel like more of a burden not on just the team, but the gameplay overall. Dare I say, the game is funner with infantry only maps and more tactical than it is with vehicles. Again, NONE of this is because of "noobs" or "new players." Since v7, my time ingame has been decreased DRAMATICALLY. Once you get past the constant crashing, unplayable performance (I get 25-30 FPS with a GTX 1070), and the other quality of life issues such as lack of server browser etc. the game feels so fragmented and disorienting. Squads have difficulty staying together. Vehicles are a burden on the gameplay. Vehicles seem to have no real effect on the outcome of the match, and most rounds end with a 200-400 ticket difference. Games aren't being "turned around" with more tickets. The discrepancy is higher than it was ever before. Most rounds end with a team getting only 60-100 kills, despite the fact that there are 600 tickets. There's a lot to be said, but I don't want to drag this post on. So I've created a poll, and I want to hear your honest thoughts on v7. Questions: 1) Was the patch rolled out responsibly by OWI with the amount of crashes and performance decrease? 2) Were vehicles rushed to please the userbase, rather than making sure they had a real tactical effect on gameplay? 3) How have the new FOB system and claim system affected the TACTICAL feel of the game?
  6. The FOB/Rally system is being exploited by players. Too many times to count, I see clans joining a server and leaving ONE clan member on the enemy team - this guy is giving them precise directions to rallies and FOBs so that his clan member on the opposite team can camp the rallies and FOBs or destroy them. It completely ruins the game and it's FAR too easy to exploit. Even 1 person who decides they want to switch to the other team (for any reason) may easily create a squad and mark the enemy FOB / rally locations - completely destroying any fairness of the game in every way. The FOB/Rally system should be COMPLETELY RE-WORKED. I know this is a lot of coding but it's clearly too easy to exploit as it stands now. Sometimes it's just 2 friends who happen to be on opposite teams when they join a server, but they are coordinating easily over teamspeak/discord/mumble or other voip to farm kills at one of the FOBs, and then they even have the nerve to brag about their 50+ kills at the end of the game. ALSO: - The grass is too ****ing tall, IRL in the prone you can see over grass. - Which basic training did these soldiers go to? Every basic training environment IN THE WORLD teaches you how to climb over walls much taller than yourself yet squad members in this game can't even step over a few bricks. The inability to scale obstacles on certain maps makes navigating a ****ing nightmare.. yet somehow these soldiers can sprint on top of walls and jump from roof to roof without issue. - Since when do sandbags stop RPGs? LAT special ammunitions should destroy fortifications like sandbags AND soldiers behind them in 1 hit. - After throwing a grenade or performing other actions (but especially after throwing a grenade) we SHOULD be capable of sprinting immediately after, but instead the soldier is unable to sprint because he is retrieving his weapon, etc. The transition between weapons, or medkit, or otherwise should be sped up dramatically if not instant. It takes far too much time to swap weapons etc, and SPRINTING should automatically CANCEL whatever animation or action was being performed and allow you to sprint. You should never be unable to sprint just because you have just thrown a grenade and you are stuck in a "readying the weapon" animation.
  7. Are all of the player Base that Really Play Squad really that into a Alpha-Stage game? Can You really Bring people to pay $$$? May I ask this To the community too Help Build a Player Base Based on Language Skills Rather than Killer Instincts? Honestly I am Die Hard Rider and Not to mention Street Wise. I just want some of these questions to be answered so I can Understand the game a bit better, This is not a troll Scene nor a Crazy Guy on Flakka I am curious to find out what Stands in front of SQUAD for Better Player Base to be build? Does Project Reality Still have SQUAD involved? Are we Still Using Modern Arsenals from Project Reality and Implementing on SQUAD? What Does the Player base who Alpha Test 200 Hours a week Get against 25 Hour a Week Players (Can a Difference Be Build?) One more questions- Are we still being offered the 50V50 Style from Project Reality? I suppose if any of the content that is in works is valid, Then SQUAD should be given a chance to Start off with Open Offers to the community for a Career.

  9. With my laptop, is seems like both the CPU and the RAM have some problems, but mostly the CPU. It's quite annoying since there seems to be almost NO difference with what type of settings i use. Going from Epic to Low, gives me only a small boost of 10-15 fps. Specs: GTX 960M Intel Core i5-4210H (2.90GHz) 8 GB RAM Windows 10 Average fps: Epic - 10-15 fps Low - 25-30 I know it's an alpha and there is a lot more to be done with performance. But my laptop "should" be quite capable to run this game on higher settings. Is there anyone else who have problems with graphic-settings have almost nothing to say for performance? :P
  10. Hey guys! So i'm qurious about how to get started with SQUAD, i want to experience it first hand but don't really know how i can do this. I did read the Pre-Purchase info about the different backing and founding deals and some had the Alpha test in them, so is that the way, to back the devs with $70 which would get me in to experience it?! But in that case, what if it turnes out to not be something for me, I'm guessing there wont be a refund?! And should wait for the games release to buy it at a premium for which i could get a refund if it wasnt to my liking? Thx in advance.

Welcome, Yesterday I bought Squad Leader - Founder Level for $ 70 and I question whether it well understood, and access to a closed Alpha get the beginning of September, or already I can play in a closed Alpha.   15. Woke up this morning exited, hoping to find a lil jem of an email in my inbox indicating how im going to download squad today. Come 12 Midday I was still optimistic. Come 3pm i was worried, as the 1451 Commander backers like myself all trying to log on and download the game at the same time possibly loomed and looked like a disaster waiting to happen. Now 4:22 PM not only am i concerned but actually a little ripped off. After all the postponements that we have patiently waited through, I would love to know why i am yet to receive a Pre Alpha email instructing me on how to download the game SO I CAN TAKE PART IN THE DAMN ALPHA I PAID FOR!!! Wish i could be less blunt, but the fact of the matter is, I and many others paid for this in support of hopefully what will be a great game, under the impression the development process will be transparent and honest. Little hard to believe that if at the first hurdle, THE PRE ALPHA. you lie or fail miserably!!!
  16. There's some huge Star Wars Battlefront leaks on Reddit right now, and some of the community members are bickering on EA's NDA! A mod purge is happening and it's pretty dramatic! But in all the heat, it made me wonder, are the devs setting up an NDA for the Alpha session coming up? I find this community extremely open, and hope that we could keep it up in the future!

I would just like to make this thread in an attempt to settle an ongoing question that has spread through this forum since this wonderful project was Kickstarted; This information is merely my own understanding of the timeline posted by the DEVs on the front pages of this website and the KS webpage, of which I would kindly like to ask a DEV or team member to confirm for all of those still unclear about the release-date information. KICKSTARTER: ​May 26th - June 26th - crowdfunding/no access distributed Closed Pre-Alpha Launch (Weekend): July 4th & 5th/July 11th & 12th - for Ranger backers only (the earliest any keys will be distributed to pledges) Closed Pre-Alpha Release: July 6th/ July 13th - for Commander, Airborne and Ranger backers only Closed Alpha Release: 6 - 8 weeks after Closed Pre-Alpha - for Squad Leader, Commander, Airborne, Ranger and Company Clan pack backers only Steam Early Access: October/November 2015 - for anyone waiting for near or full implementation of the game My guess on the Steam Early Access would be around September 2015, as stated by the "Estimated Delivery Dates" on the KS page. I understand it is still too early to give any concrete information, as there will be a ton of additional content to be developed, but whatever anyone can say will be a great help. If one of the DEVs would be so kind as to answer, clarify, confirm or even acknowledge if this information is anywhere near accurate, I feel it would put much confusion to rest for the community.   21. Hi, I have the commander pledge on kickstarter. I have seen the timeline posted on the kickstarter page, as well as this topic: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/1704-assumptions-about-alpha-access-question/ My main question is how much time do we get to play in the closed pre-alpha access? Will it just be open for the weekend, week, a month, all the way until game release? Or will we just get to keep playing as the game gets developed and keep playing until release? If so, will we then just get updates whenever the developers push them out during the closed pre-alpha and keep helping test? --- Since we are early testers, is there a way that the developers can see our opinions, suggestions, and bugs over people who don't have the game yet? This would be good to separate people giving suggestions on improvements or information on bugs/crashes for who has the game and who doesn't. Maybe create a separate email or a way to contact the developers on the website for people who have earlier access so they can mention bugs, improvements to what's in game, and so on. Just a simple example, lets say it's noticed that early access players think a car should have better traction for the game, so we'd suggest it should, but then someone who doesn't have the game yet may say the car shouldn't have better traction. I think it'd just be more efficient for the developers to have some sort of mailbox to get the early access peoples' opinions separated from the people who don't have the game just yet so they can crush bugs and or fixes/improvements, rather than having everyone just on a forum that the developers have to look through. Thanks for any help, sorry if the whole "suggestions" part of this topic was useless haha just a thought. --- Oh another quick question. The commander pledge receives 2 keys for closed pre-alpha all the way up to the full game on release, but which key will contain the weapon skins? Or will both? (I think it's just one key that gets the skins, correct me if I'm wrong). And if it's just one key that contains the weapon skins, how will we be able to tell which key contains the skins? Thanks!

  24. Hi there just a few question to the Dev, as we know in PR there are 'mumble' for the use of communication btw player in the same side (local, Squad, Platoon/Team). My question is -Will player on another side/Faction will hear my voice if I say something on local? -Is it required to have microphone to play the game? (ofc If u don't have it you will realize soon enough that people without mic tend to get kick.) thank you for wasting your time reading my question and sorry for my bad english
