      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. 508th| "Red Devils" About Us The 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment is an international community looking for new members from every walk of life in any country around the world. The 508th is a small, close-knit community. We are seeking mature gamers who are willing to play as a team, use tactics and above all have fun. Although we do use a military name and rank structure we are not a hardcore milsim clan. What we do comes down to a specific way of tactics and communication, not roleplaying. The 508th originates from the Battlefield 2 modification Project Reality. It is a group of gamers formed from an old gaming community which holds its origins in 2005. At the start of April of 2010 the 508th was created. We currently play Squad. We are looking into a more active role for ArmA 3 within the community as well. Requirements Our requirements for membership are: - Must be at least 17 years of age. - Able to game with us for at least 2 hours a week. - A working headset with microphone. - Must have Squad. - Must have Discord. - Must have no other clan or community commitments within the same game franchise. - Must have no prior bans or record of hacking or any illegitimate behavior. 5. Tactical Map Timelapse

Hey fellow players/devs, I like Squad especially because of its tactical and strategic element. Therefore I'd love to have/see a tactical timelapse of the squad map roughly like this here after the game, as it puts your and your teams efforts of the match into perspective. In order to get the necessary data I was thinking of recording a demo, parsing out the necessary information and do some postprocessing outside of the game to get something like a gif or a video. Problem is that I could not find anything about the structure of the demo-file. => Does anyone know: more about the file-format of unreal-engine/squad-demo-files? about any other efforts in that directions? an easier way to get this done? Any help welcome. Cheers PHeanEX

  7. Who are We? Red Rose Platoon is a brand new competitive Squad team, we aim to bring players a new range of game-play when playing the game by not only having a casual side to the game but a competitive side. What is the aim? The aim for Red Rose Platoon is to recruit as many members as we can to be able to compete in tournaments and matches against other competitive teams and also strive to become one of the best teams around. We aim to bring a more competitive side to Squad and also allow players to make friends and communicate with other people in the team. Why Red Rose Platoon? You might be thinking why should i join a brand new team? Well simply because you can become a top member of the team, we are recruiting all members of any age, gender, you can become apart of Red Rose Platoon. We allow input of our members and like to communicate with them as we believe that is a key part in bringing the success to the team. We are brand new team and you can help us progress with any input that you feel that can help the team push forward and bring success in the future. How do i join? There is a simple process that we carry out to find the best members possible, this selection requires you in messaging a high ranking member of the team and getting in touch with them about joining the team. Once you have spoken to one of the high ranking members of the team they will then send you the link for the team discord and from there you will be asked to have an interview just so we can get to know you a little better and so we know what you are all about! Ranking System Once you have passed the interview you will be able to move onto the next stage which is gaining your rank. How does this work? Well once your interview is done you will be required to earn your rank, ranks can be earned in different ways ranging from promoting the team, playing regularly and even helping around, this is done so it gives everyone a fair chance in being able to be promoted. Thank You Thank you for reading and if you would like to get involved then feel free to leave a reply and or message on here.
  8. The suggested features list (in order of importance); 1 - Reverse prone (ie, lay on your back) 2- Prone rolling (belly down to belly up) 3 - Weapon resting 4 - Emergency reloads 5 - Staged reloads 6 - Sprint dive and/or sliding The explanation: 1 - Reverse Prone (lay on your back) Being able to lay on one's back side is tactically advantageous in certain situations. It's a good way to get out of the way of bullets or team members in a jiffy, or get low while putting a bullet in that tango that just ran around the corner into your face. Being able to roll from belly down to a belly up position means you can check your six and stay low to the ground. 2 - Prone rolling Obviously in full combat gear with a pack, rolling around like Solid Snake isn't feasible. However, being able to roll halfway or 3/4 means a soldier has room to look between his feet (6 o' clock) or to the side (3/9 o' clock) without having to reorient his entire body in an awkward shuffle or magical rotation. Even when wearing a pack, one could still roll onto their bum faster than getting up into a crouch. 3 - Weapon resting We all understand that running a kilometer and steady aim do not go together. That's why rifles have had such long forends or "handguards"; A soldier rests his rifle. This is why shooting in the prone is so stable. If you see a boulder, window sill, tree or other stable surface then you rest your weapon in order to get a good shot. Muscles alone aren't that great at holding a bead on a 200 meter speck. 4 - Emergency reloads If you're in trouble and out of ammo, it might save your butt to just drop that empty mag on the ground and focus on getting more bullets on target. Any ammo left in that mag is left behind, but thirty rounds is ten times more than three (and you might need that extra ammo to survive this encounter). 5 - Staged reloads Remember that time you had to cancel a reload animation (right at the last moment) to knife some fool, only to return to a replay of that reload you just nearly completed? If you drop your rifle mag then need to quickly draw your secondary, your rifle shouldn't have a magazine still in it when you return to your reload. One step of the reloading process was already complete, but the single animation sequence has to complete in order for the reload to complete. I propose a much more convoluted, complicated, sophisticated, technically complex system of staged reload animations for small arms in Squad. Not just for "realism", but tactical depth and quality of life. 6 - Sprint diving and/or sliding Being able to slide or dive into cover is a great way to get low and get to cover quickly. It's also fun and really cool. Thanks for reading! Hope we see some of these features in the future.
  9. I don't like the fact that the two map layers are not aligned anymore with my position in the area since A12. In the past I used to open the tactical map (the one where placing SL markers and deciding the spawn) most of the time, and the navigation map only when driving or for a quick glance during action. They were all the time centered on my position so I could quickly understand my surroundings and in case move them and zoom in/out. Now they stuck on the last position you opened them the last time and are not even synchronized between them, so if I have to check the navigation map I have to move it, and then if I want to open the tactical map I have to recenter it as well. And this happens all the times I move elsewhere and I need to look at the maps, again and again. Can we at least have an option to autofocus both the maps on our position when opening them?
  10. Pros: - Server has good NA speeds - Team play is heavily encouraged - Trolling is usually at a minimum - I've had a lot of encounters with former & active service players on this server - Heavy use of actual tactics, helps create an exhilarating immersion - Rule set isn't overwhelming but bulky enough to maintain order Cons: - Popular server meaning long wait times - Popular server meaning server crashes and infrequent down times - Often Admins have not seemed to be present during my time on this server but that being said I have actively been helped by admins on more than one occasion. Take Away: - This server has been my personal favorite for a while now and continues to be my guilty pleasure. I highly recommend trying out this server if you haven't yet.
  11. Hi All! We've been running some fun scrimmages through Squad Events HUB each Tuesday Night at 8:30pm EST called Tactical Tuesdays. We're now seven weeks into it and it shows no sign of slowing down. It's been a good opportunity for some of the competitive and social clans to get together and learn from one another playing with and against clans they may not have had the opportunity to play with to date. Feel free to check out the previous casts @ https://www.twitch.tv/spurs_au or on Youtube at:
  12. Connect with us on Discord: https://discord.me/ar-squad ABOUT US: Armed & Ready is a community focused solely on Squad. We are founded by Combat Veterans, Active Duty Soldiers & Supporters. Our members are tactically effective, mature, drama free, treat others with respect, and are always armed & ready for whatever is thrown our way! We have fun, yet know when to get serious and that is key if you want to play competitively with us. WE OFFER: A Dedicated Discord Server #5 Ranked Squad Server - 80 Players w/ Whitelist (Chicago, IL - US) Official Squad Server ( 216.105.171.194:7787 ) A Fun, Interactive, Mature, and Tactically Minded Community THE ARMED & READY STANDARD - THINGS WE LOOK FOR IN MEMBERS: |1.| ACTIVE - We all have real lives outside of Squad and do not wish to interfere with yours BUT practice/training is expected as we all aim to improve. We encourage our members to be active as much as your schedule allows you to be. In a game like Squad, the more active you are... the better you will become! |2.| ACCURATE - No we are not looking for 30-50 kills every match but you must be able to listen accurately, move accurately, and engage accurately. Clearly the game relies on teamwork, not just kills, but the more kills we get... well the more fun we have! |3.| RELIABLE - We have embraced the motto "quality over quantity." This approach gives the community a tighter, more cohesive feel. It also means our members need to be reliable. You will need to show that you can add something to the team before becoming an official member and you will also need to show that you can be relied upon for: participating in practices, playing in scrims, and of course competing in official matches. On the battlefield you need to be a player that doesn't need 100% guidance all the time. You must be reliable in the sense that you can accept an SL's plan, digest it quickly, and make it happen. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM US: We will work with you, grow with you, train with you, and compete with you. You can expect members to be laid back and to have fun. At the same time, when it comes time to compete, we all put our big boy pants on. The majority of us have served overseas so there is some ***-ish banter but we know how to turn it off when it's time to get serious. We model our community standards/style in game and we have a basic set of rules that include but are not limited to: no racism, bigotry, sexism, discrimination, hacking, spamming, harassment, griefing, etc. CONTACT US: The easiest way to reach us is in-game, or just hop on our Discord server: https://discord.me/ar-squad
  13. H.A.R.M. Tactical Squad

H.A.R.M. is a squad for players that want to take their SQUAD game to the next level. Infantry tactics and close coordination are what this squad is all about. The basic principles this squad is built on are outlined in my Squad Leading guide, Squad Leader 101, but the goal of H.A.R.M. is to further refine and implement real-world infantry tactics and close-knit teamwork until the unit is a well-trained fighting machine. This is an elite unit and slots are limited - the unit is capped at 18 regular players on rotation. THE 3 PILLARS OF H.A.R.M. #1. PATIENCE H.A.R.M. is only for the patient player. The squad's goal is to implement real-world infantry tactics in SQUAD, repeatedly practicing those tactics until they can be carried out consistently and effectively in public matches. Training the fundamentals will take time and repetition, including dedicated practice matches and squad scrims, and players that are impatient to "get on with their game" are not going to like it in H.A.R.M. The first and foremost quality required is patience. #2. TACTICS not FLUFF H.A.R.M. is not a military fluff squad. It is not interested in implementing military practices that do not directly translate to SQUAD's gameplay. H.A.R.M. is about stripped-down and distilled infantry tactics, not a painstaking re-enactment of real-life military ranks, obscure jargon, and impractical infantry doctrines. If it's practiced in H.A.R.M., it's because it actually works in-game. The fundamentals of infantry combat are timeless, and that's what merits the repetition and practice. #3. TEAMWORK H.A.R.M. operates on a small roster to ensure the teamwork is close-knit and well coordinated. The squad will learn to operate as an team - refining tactics, communication, and execution until second-nature. Members are expected to always follow orders - whether from their SL or their fireteam leader. Members must master their role - their understanding of their job as it relates to the squad will enable them to effectively function in their role even without specific direction, eliminating the need for micro-management and greatly reducing unnecessary casualties. H.A.R.M. FUNDAMENTALS - The unit will cap at 18 players, on rotation (two full squads in total). - The squad will always play one private practice game to train tactics & teamwork before queuing for public matches. - The unit will organize 9v9 private scrims to further train and refine these tactics in practice combat situations. - Unique lessons for the day may vary, but the fundamentals will be drilled time and time again until they are second-nature. - Squad members are expected to specialize in one role - limited flexing is allowed depending on player availability. - Members must have enough available playtime to play at least a twice a week - play sessions will last from 2 to 5 hours. - Squad Leaders and Team Leaders must read the Squad Leader 101 guide in full - regular members are highly encouraged to read it also. - Squad members must follow orders promptly and to the best of their ability. - Squad members must have a firm enough understanding of their role to be able to carry it out without being told what to do. - Squad members are expected to memorize and use gameplay-relevant callouts, and use them consistently. - Squads will be divided into two Fireteams, each with their dedicated Fireteam Leader. - Team Leaders are expected to put in extra time and effort into learning their role and functioning as leaders for the unit. - Basic unit formations will be implemented - Column, Line, and File - as well as the Traveling Overwatch and Bounding Overwatch doctrines. - Members are encouraged to do their own learning on the subject of infantry tactics and the use of their weapon. - This is a commitment-based squad, not a performance-based squad - if you are committed to improving, we will train you until your performance is up to par. - H.A.R.M. is a positive environment to enjoy SQUAD. Negativity and toxicity, especially racism or verbal abuse, will result in an immediate kick from the unit. - Timezone is "Global" until a play schedule can be worked out. The hours you are able to consecutively play is more important than what time of day you can play. APPLYING FOR H.A.R.M. Please send me a PM if you want to join (the subject line should be "HARM Application from <Steam Name>, and include the following: #1. Why you want to join H.A.R.M. #2. 14. Hello Squad Community, I thought about a snapping tool for building. Yesterday I played with my Squad and we build a Superfob. One of my friends build all the sandbags... he wasn't very precise because we need to hurry up. When he began to place the upper sandbags the thing started getting worse. We build small gaps for walking in and out and if the enemy rush the fob we can easy defend. These small gaps worked with the lower sandbags but when he placed the upper ones nobody was able to get through. We had to destroy all upper sandbags and replace them very precise which cost a lot of time we doesn't had. I think if there were something like a snapping tool which you can enable and disable for personal preferences. With this tool you can Safe a lot of time. Please give me feedback if you think it's a good Idea.

  16. Army hand gestures

Hello Squaddies, I think having some descent hand gestures to a game would make it more engaging, just like this awesome pic i found in the net. Well I would like to suggest you to have this to be implemented (sorry if its already talked about since i couldn't find any post relating - if found please delete. no need to waste time ) DayZ had very cool stuff like that... Only struggle i get is when i'm the point man, i want to point out at positions, calling out. (I know the compass is there... but what if i'm far away. and out of reach from calling out someone who's not in my squad? )or give information for my squad which is vital in a team playing game like this. Maybe wave at them, point at something like in real life... So i'm just sharing with you coz i find it cool Over to you Off World

  20. New idea for a slower game mode.

So I had this idea that a really cool game mode would be that when you cap a point you need minimum supplies for that point to fully secure it. So let's say American capped a point from Russians but to be able to cap the next point they will first need supplies to be able to cap the next point (if you want to give a reason for it say something in the ways of to rebuild or defend the cap you need those supplies.) If you do the game this way this will give the opposite team a better way to plan their attack and/or start building defences on their defence cap in this way you really stop the steamrolling that happens now quite often and gives people a bit more time to think about their next move. I hope you will think about a game mode like this I think it will increase the tactical gameplay a lot. Thanks in advance BleakMaker.
  21. The 7th Legion now recruting

Legio septima Claudia (Claudius Seventh Legion) was a legion of the Imperial Roman army. Its emblem, like that of all Caesar's legions, was the bull, together with the lion. The Seventh, the Sixth, the Eighth and the Ninth were all founded by Pompey in Spain in 65 BC. With the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth legions, the Seventh was among the oldest units in the imperial Roman army. They were ordered to Cisalpine Gaul around 58 BC by Julius Caesar, and marched with him throughout the entire Gallic Wars. The Roman commander mentions the Seventh in his accaunt of the battle against the Nervians, and it seems that it was employed during the expedition through western Gaul led by Caesar's deputy Crassus. In 56, the Seventh was present during the Venetic campaign. During the crisis caused by Vercingetorix, it fought in the neighborhood of Lutetia; it must have been active at Alesia and it was certainly involved in the mopping-up operations among the Bellovaci. Legio VII was one of the two legions used in Caesar's invasions of Britain, and played a crucial role in the Battle of Pharsalus in 48 BC, and it existed at least until the end of the 4th century, guarding the middle Danube. Tiberius Claudius Maximus, the Roman soldier who brought the head of Decebalus to the emperor Trajan, was serving in Legio VII Claudia. An inscription in Pompeii revealed that a certain Floronius also served in the seventh legion. The inscription says: "Floronius, privileged soldier of the 7th legion, was here.
