      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  2. Hello, and before i continue, sorry for my bad english I've been playing Squad since V8 Alpha version. I noticed alot of changed since then, from performance that improves FPS, to the game engine itself that becomes more smooth. I respect their (Devs) work, they did an amazing job at it. I know this game is still heavily under developement, performance wise, and also the "Core" of the game itself. And I do realise, that many people that played squad, must've a descent PC in order to run this game smoothly. But for some people like me, that has a potato (rather) PC specs (yes we should upgrade, but i can't because of certain thing), can't quite enjoy the game fully. There's indeed some maps that runs smoothly on my PC at Medium Setting and have average 40FPS (Like Chora). But, for the forest one, i have an FPS drop, say to like having 15 - 30 fps only. And i already have lower the graphic down. Not that i blame the dev's or anything, yes it's my fault for having this potato PC, but can we ask for "View Distance" option to be added into the game? Like what PR has. View distance helps alot to improves FPS on people that are using potato PC like me, by reducing the rendered world (including the ground itself, so basically cannot see further than that in anyway) that visible to the player. Say, i want to set the View Distance to only 500 meters, so i just set it to 500 meters. And i think that this feature cannot be abused since it's only to help people with low spec PC to improve FPS, and not anything else, since we cannot see further than 500 meters. It is a disadvantage for us, but worth for the FPS improvement So, i request Devs to kindly add View Distance Option to be added into the game (Just like the one in PR), nothing more but just to help some people that has low pc spec that still want to enjoy this game, to improve their FPS. Thanks in advantage, i hope i hear what you guys think about this
  3. Hello Squaders, I know there are tons of FPS topics already and I searched through a bunch I'm wondering is there any NEW way to increase FPS? This is NOT a discussion about getting new hardware or disputes between Intel and AMD I simply would like suggestions or help. Currently getting 40-45 fps on almost every map however in heavy combat I drop to about 30-40. My rig: Athlon x4 860K Quad Core 4.0 GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4096 MB 16GB ddr3 ram windows 10 Things ive tried: lowered maxaudiothing to 96 from default all settings preset LOW Ingame Ive gone in the INI files and changed things to 0 based on forum posts ive read turned audio to low quality and filtering off drivers updated Any ideas on how to increase FPS besides buying a new processor (i know i need a better one) I dont care how the game looks i just want to be able to play with 50-60 fps at least!
  4. Hello I am a new player and i've been trying to find the best settings for me. My specs are: i7 4790 @ 3.6Ghz 12 GB DDR3 1600mhz MSI GTX 1050Ti GT OC So far, i have tweaked my nvidia 3D settings to optimal preformance for squad and i'm using the ingame graphics settings below. I have refrained from forcing squad to dx10 using launch options in steam because it looks alot worse for me, and i do not really need the fps. Putting squad on high priority in my task manager also yields no effect. I'm currently running the game on full 79/80 man servers at 76-88fps with drops to 65. If anybody has suggestions on how to squeeze even more quality/fps out of this, please do let me know. oTec
  5. Hola Gents, So squad is an intense game that requires a bunch of teamwork to accomplish goals. One thing that can surely be improved on constantly is your teams' ability to communicate with each other. I wrote this guide in reference to Arma 3 but It applies to any FPS game in the market. I hope you enjoy the information and that you can apply it into your team's dynamics. There are several other guides as well. Feedback is appreciated! TwistedXvs
  6. Hello fellow Squaddies, i was wondering if somebody can help me. This is my Hardware: i5-6600k 16GB RAM GTX 1080 i am struggling since the beginning with my "perfect settings" means 60fps in 4K-Resolution. what settings are really hardware hungry? Would overclocking my cpu help? what graphic settings should i disable? thank you in advance greetings from germany
  7. Low FPS

When I play squad the fps sits around 20 to 30 , Ive done everything from resting the cache, reinstalled the game, update all drivers, put all settings to low even the resolution. All other games run perfect on high settings. Here are my specs: AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core Processor (OC 4.1) AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB Series 16 GB Ram Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Gigabyte - GA-990FXA-UD3 R5 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
  8. Very Low FPS

I just bought Squad a couple days ago and I've been experiencing pretty serious FPS drops in servers with more than 20 people in them. With some research around this forum, it appears that the CPU is often the bottleneck though I'm also seeing people having success tweaking the launch files and using certain Nvidia drivers. Like many other players, changing the graphics settings has minimal impact on the FPS. Here's my computer specs: Intel W3680 @ 3.33GHz GTX 980 --Driver version 385.41 24 GB ram My CPU clock speed is on the low end but it meets the minimum requirements on the Squad Steam page. I didn't expect it to impact FPS specifically, especially with the graphics settings turned down. 1. Anyone have any suggestions on setting adjustments I can make to improve the framerate? 2. Are there any plans to improve the game's utilization of multicore processors? My Xeon is very similar to a 6-core i7 and its surprisingly not enough to get over 30fps right now
  9. gpu/cpu utilization questions

GTX 980, amdfx 6300 4ghz, 100 gig SSD with only squad on it, 8 gigs 1600 mhz I'm having an issue regarding utilization and usage of my cpu and gpu... so to start, if i go into fire range, change map to, really any of the maps... and spawn in, my gpu and vram usage is around 70-80%, cpu 50-60%, and 120 FPS on low settings.... and thats with nothing but the map and what not loaded in. when i join a multiplayer game, my gpu and vram usage from the point of joining the game, to the point of actually spawning in, is high, and fps is good.... but as soon as i spawn in, gpu and vram usage DECREASES and fps drops in the toilet.... My question is, shouldn't it be the opposite? Why is the game using less gpu/vram/cpu when actually playing, versus when in the spawn menu.... Shouldn't it be using more? and just to ad, while in multiplayer gpu/vram usage is around 10-15% sometimes lower.... but its using also nearly 7.1 gigs of RAM... and my fps tanks.... and even sometimes i can spawn in, and gpu/vram/cpu usage while be high and i will have great fps, only to go drop back down along with my FPS 10 minutes into the game.... is this hardware related? engine related? Settings? lack of optimization related(being alpha is expected)?
  10. Cannot Solve FPS problem

Hello all, I have done extensive research and tried a whole bunch of different things to increase my FPS even though I believe I should have higher anyway. Here are the specs on my computer: AMD FX 4300 Quad-Core Processor AMD Radeon R7 200 series (I think it is a 250) I am getting extremely low FPS. I am around 15-20fps in training and around 5-10 in game depending on the map. I would think that this set up should be capable of at least 50-60 fps? I have put all the computer settings to performance along with the AMD settings. Maybe I am just wrong in thinking this computer can handle this game? Please help!
  11. I bought Squad a week ago and can't really enjoy it as I get 20 FPS on full servers. I have read all the forum post on performance issues and everything leads to a conclusion that it is my processor's fault as it is badly running together with the U4 engine. Here are my PC specs: AMD FX 8320 3.5Ghz (4.0Ghz at the moment) 8Gb DDR3 RAM Nvidia GTX 660 TI 2GB Asus 990FXA - UD3 I have tried the following: Changing graphics settings to the lowest Lowering audio quality and disabling radio filtering Overclocking CPU to 4.0 Ghz Overclocking RAM to 1600Mhz Changing settings in Nvidia Control panel for the performance boost Updating my graphic drivers Lowering resolution and playing in windowed/borderless Nothing seems to work. I have also noticed that when I play in a half empty server the FPS is up to 50-60 sometimes but when it gets filled with over 40 players, the fps drops to 20-25 at best. I understand that the game is in development and that optimization is not a priority right now but for me the game is unplayable. I asked steam for a refund but as I was trying all those things I've spent more than 2 hours ingame therefore, I won't be compensated. So I have a game that I cannot play that I paid 18 EUR for and there is no solution to this day to fix it just hope the devs will bother to fix optimization issues in what? Like 3 months or so from now with the next patch release? I only started playing squad recently after 10 years of BF2PR so I had high hopes for this game but as I see now that the AMD owners are being screwed over big time. Any suggestion besides getting a new rig as it is not an option at the moment? What can I do? Maybe there is something else I haven't tried that helped you guys with similar issues?
  12. My system is having a lot of trouble running squad, but neither my CPUs or GPU average above 50% usage. My game chugs along at 8-15 fps while the system uses less than half of it's full potential. I tried for hours to find a fix, but nothing I tried helped, after multiple restarts and even installing the game on a different HDD. I eventually gave up and started planning to upgrade my GPU, however I found youtube videos of players with GTX 760s running the game at ~40 fps. My system is a bit unique, being a dual xeon build, but no other games seem to have any issues, including bf4, PUBG, and other well-optimized AAA games. Disabling one of the CPUs made zero difference in performance. Specs below: Dual Quad Core Xeon E5430 CPUs at 2.66 Ghz for 8 cores total MSI Twin Frozr GTX 760 16 gb DDR2 registered server ram at 667Mhz 750 watt corsair psu
  13. Another low FPS thread

Hi all, New to the game (~20 hours played), love it, but can't get consistent 30fps or even 20 for that matter. Game typically ends up being a 10 FPS slideshow most of the time and thus becomes near unplayable despite that I run with settings at the lowest possible. PC SPECS Windows 7 64-bit i7-960 @ 3.2GHz 16GB triple-channel DDR3 @ 534MHz GTX 1060 6GB I believe my processor may be the issue(it does run rather hot), but I see other threads where people have lower specs than mine are complaining about getting 50 fps rather than 60, and I can't even get a consistent 30. Any and all help is appreciated
  14. Laptop users

Hey guys so I stumbled across this game on steam and it looks like everything I want in a game I play on a laptop 2.8ghz 8mb ram, 2gig 940mx nvidia i just want to know how it runs for other laptop users? I don't mind running with low/med gfx if the gameplay is good
  15. (Little DISCLIAMER: I'm not trying to pick a fight or participate in any war with users and their builds. I'm just making a point. Attack the post at will, it wont change it.) So after owning Squad and other games (new and old) for some time now, I've noticed something that's pretty common nowadays... AMD Processors under-performing in games. This forum is littered with questions, comments, and concerns about in-game performance, but I think someone needs to hit the nail on the head so all this talk about AMD vs. Intel is over. I have an AMD FX Eight Core 8350 Black Edition APU. It's Intel Competitor being the Intel i7 4770K (I do not own it, but I know a lot about Intel and AMD as an IT and Computer Science wizard.). My build is also equip with 8GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 960 GPU with 2GB VRAM and never had issues. In many games, the AMD processor handles well along side with the Intel Processor. However, with Squad, it's a whole different story. Is the AMD Processor worst for Squad? YES. And this stands for other games as well (except for some). Only continue if you want to get into specs. The AMD Processor line is known to have one "big thing" over Intel... The amount of cores the processors have. However this still doesn't peak any performance because Intel gets more in depth with their processors and manufacture them better. Intel's Specs over AMD: More Energy Efficient, Much faster single-core int speed, Much faster single-core fp speed, Much faster quad-core int speed, Much faster quad-core fp speed, Slightly faster multi-core int speed, Much faster multi-core fp speed, and the overclocked settings compared to AMD also almost adds 50% more effective power to the results.. The Intel i7 4770K has an overall effective speed of 78%. Which is 39% BETTER than AMD. Not just for gaming too... In proper English; Intel's cores are more 'intelligent' and can solve equations and tasks the games or programs throw at them MUCH faster than AMD can. So in this case, more cores is not better. It's actually a waste. So this means Intel is a far superior CPU with a slightly more heavy price tag. You get what you pay for with AMD... Not bashing AMD in any way. Participate in the polls if you'd like I hope that the game can be optimized for better performance on AMD APU's if possible. See the results for yourself if you'd like. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-4770K-vs-AMD-FX-8350/1537vs1489
  16. High End PC: Low Performance

I recently have been playing Squad alot and I usually get around 50 fps on low in fire fights. I hear that setting Squad to "high priority" in the task manager boosts fps and setting your gpu to "prefer maximum performance" instead of "optimal power" helps aswell. My main question is that if using these settings are safe for your computor. I don't want to harm my computor in any way by using these settings but I want to get a higher fps. I have never had FPS problems with this pc besides this game. I know that the game is in alpha and is unoptimized, but i still feel that i should be getting better performance with my rig. After each update I clear my cache too. For a while now I've been thinking that something is wrong because I never have difficulty running a game with my setup. 17. PANDA_V1RUS Gameplay Videos

    (NEW!) (NEW!)
  18. So I got Squad yesterday and started playing it but I've noticed some really unusual framerate problems that I didn't experience on the free weekend. Several maps ran great. Kokan and all the other afghan themed maps, not to mention the forested map (with the "Castle" objective) ran great, but with some slight stuttering and framerate drops when I looked around too quickly. However a lot of maps, almost all of the eastern European maps, run like ass. And I mean some seriously confusing turbo ass. Like 2 FPS ass. And this always occurs when I move my character's head around, so it seems to have something to do with loading new assets. I tried rolling back my 3D card driver and turned off SLi, but no beans. For reference my hardware stats are... Windows 8.1 Intel i5-4690k @ 3.5 GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 cores 2 GeForce 970s on SLi 16 gigs of ram Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I alone? Why did this start now? Should I just wait for the next update?
  19. Hello, In training map I get stable 80~85 FPS but when i go to multiplayer FPS drops to 45~50 and feels very buggy and stuttery just to the point its not playable and impossible to enjoy the game.... currently everything runs on epic, but when i change to low there is no difference in fps also ive seen videos of people running the game with older hardware and getting way better performance My Specs: GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz RAM: 16GB
  20. Hello every1. Have the problem with low FPS (~8-12 FPS instead old amount of 35-45) after reinstalling windows. What i've done: Just reinstalled my OS on the same one - Windows 7 Prof x64 SP1. My specs are: i5-3470 3.2 GHz 8 Gb RAM NVidia GeForce GTX 660 2Gb All OS updates are installed already. Also i tried the last NVidia driver version and the version of January 2017 - no beans. Help me to find the source of problem please.
  21. Im writing this to hopefully get some feedback from a person who works on the dev team or knows about this. but when will the squad devs optimize squad to handle ryzen properly? i have a r7 1700 and an rx 580 and on full 70 player maps get inbetween 30 and 40 fps while people with intel get 45 to 60 fps all the time. This is an answer i need to know because even though i am getting "ok" performance it isnt what i should be getting. If someone who works as a dev or someone who knows legit info on this can tell me when they will start trying to optimize ryzen processors let me know. thank you
  22. After the recent update I've experienced a heavy drop in fps – from a stable 60+fps to 25 and below. At game start, everything is peachy, but a few minutes in and forward the fps just dives off a cliff. I tried running the Squad Troubleshooter V2, nuking the game cache both through game and OS, un- and re-installed GPU drivers (also a rollback), reinstalled the game twice on two separate hdds(maybe the first was broken right?), following performance guide setups etc. – Nothing helps, no matter the graphic settings and hardware setup the fps stay below 25! It is to be said that Squad has never crashed because of this, the FPS drop is just too severe to keep on playing! I've also not made any changes to my setup during the rollout of the 9.5 update, all my other games behaves like normal. I also had no problem running Squad before the update, stable 60fps and no crashes since I bought the game. BUT tried I enabling Full Texture Loading which bumps the fps to 45 without any too severe drops. Anyone else with fps problems since recent update that can verify? - Could this be a memory leak thing? I'm at work, so will post logs and monitor data when I get home, do a third play-through to verify and then submit an official bug report. 23. Hi I recently noticed while playing around with motar feature in Singelplayer on different maps that UE 4 version used in Squad or its implimentation seems to have a big Drawcall Bottleneck additionaly to the well known MP problems. Settings: All Epic NO SS,AA FHD E.G Chora ASS V2 via Adminchangemap ... gives around 70-90 FPS while GPU is at 50% usage,CPu has one core At 80% load on full clock rest 30-50% with some cores even downclocking, gamethreat is 6 ms while rest around 20ms, This observation is present through the whole mapline with a higher impact in heavy vegatation areas/maps. For me this is reproducable on my 3 Rigs so i doubt this is a PC specific Problem: Dual Xeon E5-2687W ; GTX 1060 ; 128 Gb Ram ;Win 7 I7 4790 ; GTX 1060; 16 Gb Ram ; Win 7 I7 5820K , GTX 1080 , 64 Gb Ram ; Win 7 & 10 Can other People reproduce this ? After searching UE Forums i found this : https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?49169-POM-material&p=624232&viewfull=1#post624232 Seems like with UE 4.14 ( version Squad is using) Materials have a bug that can lead to massive Performance decrease by causing high drawcalls in some cases.

  25. Is there a fix for this. The FPS DOESNT change when I turn down the settings I get the same exact fps at EPIC as HIGH as turning shadows off and foliage to med or low. I even tryed to lower it to 1080 instead of 1440 little change I have a I7 4790K 32GB Ram and TWO GTX MSI 970s.(Yes I know it doesn't support SLI) There is no reason I should have sub thirty fps. It goes from 70 down to 25 randomly and since its such a huge drop its makes my game lag like crazy. Sometimes its just bad fps and stays bad 20-45 range. Yes my nvidia settings are on performance and all correct power and control panel settings. It gets so bad I can't even play the game. With SLI on from inspector forced profile. Pre-Clean Driver Install on full server/large map Base game profile which doesn't support SLI. Still maxing my GPU for no FPS gains Pre-Clean Driver Install on full server/large map Post driver install on a not full server/smaller map. Post driver install on a not full server/smaller map. The problem is the 100% usage still remains even on smaller maps with less people. Here's a large map full server test result, again still forcing my GPU to 100% for no gains in FPS. 1920x1080 Post-Clean Driver Install on full server/large map 2560x1440 Post-Clean Driver Install on full server/large map More 1440 evidence ALL THESE BELOW WERE TAKEN FROM THE SAME SERVER SAME MATCH about halfway through it just started running horribly. Literally no change in switching of setting so I'm just confused at this point...
