Forum Rules 07/06/2016Introduction The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party. Section I: Posting Rules §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users. §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with. §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time. §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics, etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal. §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest. §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs. §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense. §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
§9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
§10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge. §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings. §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed. Section II: Reporting & Moderation §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments. §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules. §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly. §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

As many will know, precise coordinates are given in-game not only by stating the grid square an object is located in (i.e. Golf 9), but also a "keypad" which represents one of 9 numbers oriented like a number pad. Thing is, for the longest time I've been reporting grid coordinates using a telephone number pad as a basis for the orientation of these numbers. But I've come to find that other people actually rely on the orientation of a keyboard numpad, which might make more intuitive sense as most people (though not myself) have keyboards with numpads right in front of them. So, the question is, what have you been using? I'm wondering if I've just been doing it wrong and this is a standard, or if there's a wide community disparity; if the latter is true, then I may post a suggestion for Squad's in-game map to have very subtle numbers on the smaller squares inside each grid reference. For reference, here's the two different kinds of number pads; notice that the middle row (4, 5 and 6) are the same, but the top and bottom rows are simply switched:
I know there are system requirements on the steam version, but most of them on games are some what inaccurate. I have an Intel Core i5 4590 3.3Ghz. I was wondering if that CPU will be enough to run this game at decent at least 60fps and at least on medium settings. My GPU is more than enough to run it at high, but i'm not sure about my CPU. Hopefully i'm posting this in the right forum section lol. Thanks all.
Apologies if this is in the incorrect section. Specs: Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 ASUS STRIX RAM 16 GB (Corsair) Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10240), 64-bit I know that AMD performance is far worse, and that v8.0 should bring some great performance changes around November. I'm looking to buy the game, but I thought I would ask you that in the current state of the game, how bad actually is the FPS? Is it enough to make aiming a difficulty? Does it impact on how fun the game plays? Is it even that noticeable? I'm wondering this because I was watching some videos of guys with roughly the same specs as me playing around 4-5 months ago and I couldn't even tell the game was lagging. (See here for that video) Thanks in advance.
Hey guys, Just wondering if there's a way to join new games or not. Most of the time I join games halfway through which I don't mind, but I then 80% of the time get kicked when a new round is starting because of other users paying the server or something. I'm sure I'm just doing something dumb/wrong. Thanks for helping. CoNzz *if this has been asked before sorry just let me know and I'll delete the thread*
I'm seeking clarification. Obviously, there are in Squad a number of weapons lacking in authenticity; the M1014 over the M590A1, the M9A1 over the M9, the RPK-74M over the PKP, to name a few. Their use has been heavily discussed. I have heard from a number of community members that these weapons are placeholders, which presumably means it's the intention of the devs to replace these weapons with more authentic ones at some point in development. However, I'm not really clear on all this, so I seek clarification for the following: 1. Is "placeholder" a term used for these weapons by the devs? 2. Is it the intention of the devs to replace these placeholder weapons with more authentic ones at some point in development, whether it's two months from now or two years from now? 3. Did the devs implement these weapons under the false impression that they were the authentic choice, or were they implemented under an assumption? I have not personally heard from the devs their intention to eventually replace all these placeholder weapons. I have heard, for example, Z-Trooper say something along the lines of "We won't bother" when asked about every using the M9 over the M9A1. I'm not pointing fingers at the devs nor anyone else, so do not assume otherwise. Thank you.
Rekosaurus Rex posted a topic in General DiscussionHey can someone or one of the Devs tell me how the IED's will function in Squad? I'm intrigued by the art of "ALLAHU AKBARING" and I would very much like the IED's to resemble much of like real life, maybe a medium blast range (75m) and a very loud explosion that can be heard miles away, followed by gorgeous black/thick smoke effects shooting up way into the sky like a cloud, that should make people feel terrified. Shrapnel would carry over the length of the bomb blast, clinking against solid objects. If close to the explosion a vibration should be heard, like a really loud speaker, followed by a Tinnitus sound effect, and a ringing of the ear (in game audio of course). Sound should also in my opinion channel around different urban/non-urban settings (through corridors, mountains, etc). Even have the sound of the explosion sound different indoors. Dirt should spit up on detonation of the bomb, heck, even add a small stringy like blood effect to be seen when enemies are caught in the explosion. The new smoke physics being implemented will make for some great smoke effects. (Maybe even add a voice that yells something in Arabic, before he activates the detonation, if not that's okay). In regards to the placement of explosives, AT Mines should function like they do in PR (digging them underneath the ground), and i also think IED's should be more like Insurgency where you just place it down instead, or maybe give an option to set them down however you like: disguised or not disguised (that's where shovels will come into play). Edit: okay maybe 500m is a bit of a fetch. I think the blast radius of the IED in game should be around like 75-100 at most. 150m should maybe be for like a car/truck bomb or something. P.S because I'm on mobile when I was creating this discussion it duplicated the post, please don't forget to check out the other same post as it has some interesting discussion in it: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/13024-how-bigloud-will-the-explosion-of-the-ieds-be-in-squad/
Hello and good evening, (NOTE: Searching the web forum here with keywords like "GRENADIER", "GRENADIER ADS", "ADS" and so on didn't result fruitful.) I'ts been roughly 1-2 weeks playing SQUAD now. I learned a lot and still have to learn and adapt, but one of the few mysteries in weaponry and ADS is the grenadier (when firing a grenade). I don't quite understand, which "distance mark" (I call them like that, I don't know the exact proper English word for it) stands for which distance. I tested it on the firing range...to my confusion with no constant results. Would somebody be so kind and explain this problem to me? This problem also faced me when playing INSURGENCY and several other "real combat"-simulation games. I also tried to find an explanation on YouTube, but it seems, I only find the actual work routine of a grenadier.....but not on how to understand the weapon when ADS (firing a grenade). Cheers, Thund3rb1rd P.S.: Sorry for my bad english. It's not my mother tongue.

I just got the game and so far it takes a good minute to actually get the game running then once I'm in game it takes a good 3 minutes on the loading screen pauses and takes me back to the home screen. How can I fix this? My PC specs are decent.
Hi Guys Must get this a lot on the forums but I couldn't find any answers. I just brought the game a few minutes ago and got a receipt from pay-pal. I haven't got an email of the cd-key. I paid $40 for the game which is the Upgrade Rifleman. Is there any way to get a cd-key?
So guys. I am a fan of Project Reality and I heard about Squad from Bluedrake42. But I think I would have to pass the opportunity to play this game as my pc specs are: CPU: Intel Dual Core E8400 3.0 Ghz GPU: AMD HD Radeon 7950 Sapphire 3GB Boost Edition RAM: 4 GB OS: Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64-bit So can you guys help and tell me if the game will be optimized to play with those pc specs. I would also request an answer from the developers. I would like to run the game on medium textures. Ambient Occlusion at least 4x, V-Sync turned on and basically to not be ugly. Thank you for reading. Please read the questions and answer. Also put your opinions down below. Thank you for reading. Sincerely, Kydric
I was wondering, because of PR having many different armies and locations with their own weapons and vehicles etc, are the devs gonna do the same for Squad? or are they just keeping it within the middle east with modern warfare? because that could get slightly boring.
Hello Community and Devs! I would like to show my support and honor the work of the devs in form of art. To be more specific: I want to do an orchestral (well, or electronic, or both?) soundtrack and would like to know from you guys what you think about that. Also, I have some pretty good ideas in my head, but I would love some input from your guys aswell. So, give me suggestions of how it should sound like (maybe like the main theme of pr? or something completely different?). And by the way - if one of you guys can sing, has a good mic and would like to contribute with their voice - feel free to contact me! I am looking forward to your guys' input! LG
Devs have you considered adding in the use of bandages into SQUAD but with a difference, everytime someone uses and or gets bandaged there player model gets a bandage either around the arm, head, chest, leg.. This could make the game add just that slight bit more detail than most you see published nowadays. It would also look great! adding in that extra aspect that shows the pure struggle you might go through in a round. Any thoughts?? I'm going to keep positing random questions/ideas to help. - Daruth [EDIT]: This would only be a cosmetic feature in SQUAD, where the player gets extra bandages surrounding areas of the body after healed (as generally described above). This isn't a number one priority for the dev team its for the small details later in development... Thank you for the great comments so far everyone.
