      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Night Maps???

I've been wondering how night maps would play out. Not just a semi dark map with the sun setting over the horizon. A pitch black map that's only lit by moonlight. I've been enjoying this thought more and more recently because of my strange attraction towards the tracer bullets. (It'd be so damn beautiful with tracer bullets flying everywhere in a night map)
  2. New Stances

It would be helpfuly if you add some more Stances, for example like in "Arma 3". Because you die very often because of a bad position. Sorry for bad englisch, hope you understande me.

  4. So I am starting this thread not to drum up WHY the game got toxic quickly over the last few months, but how do we fix the issue to bring back old players and educate the new ones of the quality of community? I've put in about 1000 hours of game play from December 2015 to roughly November 2016. I know many people have put in way more and quit playing for the same reason I have. Once the free weekend last fall occurred and a slew of new players entered the game things seemed to go way downhill in terms of community friendliness and quality of teamwork. I've tried playing several different times on different servers (that were available) since last fall and I just can't get past the players. It seems like old players and new ones are quick to jump down each others throats, troll, tk, and be verbally abusive. This isn't just a personal observation either. I have a group on my friends list for players I've played squad with in the past that were great teammates and quality members of the community. That list is around 150 people from all over the world. I think on average i see maybe 2-4 people playing squad throughout the day and typically they don't play very long. This used to be 20-30 on average playing any time in the day. When I ask them about the game they say "it's too toxic," or "i just can't play that game anymore." I know i miss playing squad. What measures are in place to increase teamwork and decrease the level of trolling and player abuse going on? Can we see some sort of SL vote kick feature? Maybe a time in requirement for important Roles? Some form of team vote kick for tker's as Admins often kick the wrong people or make the issue worse. Some form of mute feature to end players trolling others in local or in squad chat. Can we see changes in the conquest "every point can be captured" style map it seems awful for teamwork and every server I've joined with it playing never works together. A commander role with some sort of vote into the position from the other players. This might help squads work together more. Possibly a pre-named squad list you can join or edit the name of such as "engineer, fob support, forward observation, assault, defense, etc."
  5. Anti Cheat

  6. Many militaries are beginning to test the usage of drones on the battlefield. I believe it would be a great item to implement into the game giving it to the US team, the Russian military, and the Russian rebels. This could be done by giving it it's own role in the command and support roles for the Squad leader to choose from. It could be readily deployed from anywhere in the battlefield and be retrieved only by finding it and using the action key to pick it up. It would fit perfectly into the asymmetric warfare present in Squad and would bring a vital observation/recon element to the organized militaries in the game.
  7. I have been experiencing something kind of worrisome lately while playing Squad. When the Open Alpha started over a year ago, 3 out of 10 games had people giving away FOB positions at the beginning of the match. The last 3 rounds I have played had very obvious traitors revealing FOBS and team killing then leaving the server. I want to know what the Dev team has planned to keep this from happening in the future. As of right now, this game is completely ruined by this.
  8. Thatoneguyfromthemetro's video thread

Thanks for all the support on the other thread guys! I really appreciated all of the pointers and will continue to implement them as I keep producing videos. Just setting up a separate thread that I will continuously update as I keep publishing. Thank you!
  9. Trying to start a Youtube channel!

Hey guys! Been playing Squad for quite some time now - and I have always wanted to start up a channel and get more involved in the gaming community, and I think now is the best time as anyway to try and start! Still super small - only have a tiny handful of videos up with some of the better gameplays that I have, but looking for feedback and ways to improve and better my videos and channel as a whole. What I do have for you guys today, however, is an awesome gameplay I recorded while playing the LAT kit. Hope you guys enjoy it, and leave a comment with some feedback here or on the channel! Let me know what I can improve or if you even enjoyed the content! Cheers
  10. Yuttho's Gameplay Videos

Hi, I upload gameplay footage of my experiences that are minorly edited (cutting out long-walking parts, etc). It's nothing special--no fancy stuff, just the footage of the round and you may find it interesting or fun to watch. A bit of background on myself, I am also known as AurianTitan on Project Reality (PR) and I've been playing PR since 2007. I didn't start making YouTube videos until about 2009-2010 though. In my videos, you may notice my friends calling me "Aurian" and its because of my PR name as I've said earlier. My friends are under the tags [TNT], abbrev. for "Tactics N' Teamwork" and we really rely on coordination and tactical seriousness in the fight. Though we might sound a bit rowdy among each other, we still get the job done. We try our best to help guide and support newcomers to the game and community. We're not a clan, just a closely-knit group of friends that have met on Project Reality long time ago. A list of my friends who are part of [TNT] (or in very close relation) that you may find in-game (Squad and maybe PR): Marco49, J-Wy1998 (formerly Redford1998), Dragoon013, KrzyKiller, Paul_OneSix, OpticalF3ar, ComedyInk, MertSahin. Videos: Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy_Vsb-9ZWP7ACKQZGG_Bx1gBjeuxNFVI I will continue to update this thread for new videos. Thanks for watching/visiting!

  12. I recently tried Squad, and i jusst wanna share what FPS i got with my laptop spec: intel core i5, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 940MX 2GB, 1336x768 Resolution Low: 36-41 FPS Medium: 34-40 FPS High: 33-40 FPS I believe that this performance can be tweaked even more, beacuse this game is not fully optimized in my opinion. Thank you!
  13. territory based game

hi guys this is my first suggestion, the game looks awesome , but i find it really ruining the FOB thing when you have no line of action , like real world you would know a specific directions from which you wont be expecting enemies , what i suggest that each base you control has a territory once you capture the flag the base name it, that amount of ground space allocated to the base be marked for your forces and you will be able to build FOBS and fortifications in it , like COH2 territories that in my opinion wil make the game more intense and stratigic than having some one wondering in a car to build a fob behind you and each time you advance you will be worrying that some one is spawning behinf you like controlling that base made nothing than winning tickets, i mean its cool to have this type of game , it will make more firefights and defending bases more crucial and organized

  16. Intense Firefights - Squad Gameplay

Hi guys, I just want to share this video of me playing squad with random players. Our squad leader is doing a very good job on handling our squad and firefights were actually intense and dynamic on this round, and also i just wanna show off my killing spree mode at this time. Our team won by the way, and we became the best squad. Question : Is the progress bar preview working for you guys? Mine doesn't seem to show up. [video=youtube;kOdyHIfcTpo] [/video]

  18. Civilian AI

Something I would love to see implemented into this game would be the addition of civvi AI which would have an impact on the game. The way I envision it would work would be that civvi's populate built up areas as well as a few wandering around the rest of the map. Civvi's would respond to gun fire by moving away from it and then return to their original positions/ activities once the fighting has moved on. The whole purpose of having civvi's populate the map is that they would respond to the actions of each team. As an example if your team were to kill a couple of civvis the other team would then be giving an intel package - give away a squads position for 2 minutes or maybe the position of a FOB/RP maybe. Also this could work well if you say occupied someone's house that would also incur a penalty. I think this system would add an extra layer to the game and force squaddies to think about dropping FOB's etc. What do people think? PS. I don't know if someone has raise this idea already, sorry if they have. Also I acknowledge that this would probably put way to much strain on servers and people's rigs.
  19. I have a suggestion for a variation of the current way cap zones work, which in the current iteration are relatively small, and usually around some defendable compounds. With the small cap zones that we have now, CQB becomes slightly more emphasized and speed&aggression becomes important (which I like and Im thankful that this game retains these elements). But in addition to this I would love to see some huge cap zones, which would to a larger degree reward players to seize map control and engage in mid/long-distance firefights. This type of gameplay, which some people would call "slower" or more PR-like, I very much enjoy aswell and was one of the things which drew me to games like Squad/PR. If the cap zone is large, then one would not need to always push and engage danger-close. Instead there would be more possibilites to eliminate the enemy from distance and digging in behind ridge lines and such, because you are not as much "fighting against the clock" to get to the cap zone, you are already in it, and so is the enemy despite being relatively far away from you. Rather, you are fighting for land and control over all the good positions in that area. Now, one could find a middle way in this. Some of the flags could have small/medium cap zone, just like they work already. But other "flags" could have large or even very large cap zones, which would vary up the gameplay and strategies employed on the road to victory. In the large cap zones, the team who also control a smaller, center area of the whole cap zone, could have an advantage by being able to cap more easily. Imagine there are 10 guys from each team located in a huge capzone. Normally that would cause the cap to stand still, no one is capping. But if one of the teams have managed to seize control of the small center area (some compounds or such), then they will now start capping because of the advantage, despite there being 10v10 in the cap zone. The beauty would be that its not enough to just dig into the compound in the middle and expect to cap (short term maybe), because the enemy team who now has control over everything else of the large cap zone, can now just put more and more people into the cap, and at some point they will start capping, even if its more effecient to cap when you have soldiers in the small center area. This would to a larger extent encourage teams to take area control around the center area of cap, in addition to pushing to the center area, instead of almost everyone rushing to this small area to make sure it gets capped. I think Ive heard the devs already working on new game modes, but I this struck my as something that might work so I thought Id humbly share it. Apologies if something similar has already been posted!
  20. After quite a few matches this weekend playing as Squad Leader, I've realised a lot of the SL's time is chewed up by attempting to get grid refs for spotted targets and enemy positions. I think I've come up with a possible solution to make this a bit easier if it's possible. Allow infantry (non-SL) to place map markers in the same way the SL can, but these are only visible for members of the same squad and shaded differently (enemy = orange, general - yellow or light green). For any map marker placed by a squad member, the SL of that squad could choose to click on that map marker to 'approve it' in the same way a vehicle is approved remotely by the SL. Squad leader can also delete these markers by the same menu as approve. This allows the squad to use markers for themselves without general map clutter, but also allows the squad leader to selectively choose map markers to show to the whole team. TLDR : Allow grunts to place different coloured map markers visible only to their squad. SL's can 'approve' these like vehicles so they appear to the whole team or delete them. Any thoughts?
