      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment "A New Standard In Realism" http://www.2cav.org Current Phase: Planning As of this moment, we are accepting applications, but are not conducting any official activities until unit launch. About the 2CAV 3rd Battalion, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, or 2CAV, is a realism unit based off the real life military operations group that currently supports ArmA 3 and Squad (upon release). Our goal here is to create a highly realistic environment that accurately portrays an Army unit, while still preserving fun. In the 2CAV, we utilize many aspects of an actual unit, including Infantrymen, armor, medics, and much more! Here at the 2CAV, even though we consider ourselves a MILSIM unit, we understand that real life comes first, and are always willing to work with our members to ensure that they are content and comfortable. Just because we are serious, doesn't mean we do not acknowledge that it is a game. And as a game, it is not worth playing if you are not having fun. Who We Are Looking For Almost anyone can join the 2CAV, no previous experience is required. The only requirement that we have is that you must be 17 or older, and may not be currently enlisted with another group in Squad or ArmA 3. In the unit we do not have room for slackers, and will make quick work of them if we find them. We are looking for driven, realism oriented people who are looking to be part of a team and make something great. Everyone in the unit contributes in some way, whether that be just attending events and having a good time, or volunteering your extra time to help better this unit in staff. Why You Should Join Unlike most units, here you are not a number. No matter how new you are, or how long you have been here, you can make a difference. We have open unit meeting for all members so that way concerns may be expressed, and so that ideas may be shared. We often encourage our members to partake just so they can get a feel for the type of open forum that it is. Everyone in the unit is important, can make a difference, and is crucial to it's success. Another thing that separates us from other realism units in the community is the fact that we are mainly focused around standard Army functions, and not special operations. We are not special operations capable at this time, but we strive to achieve it in the future. What You Can Do Right now we are actively seeking players to join our Infantry section, as riflemen and vehicle crewmen. Once enough members have joined, we will then begin recruiting for our aviation and other sections. If at any point in time a member wishes to transfer, they may move to wherever they wish. However, they must have completed the proper training in order to transfer and remain the same pay grade and avoid a reduction in rank. The reason for this is not to be a pain, however, is to ensure that an untrained member does not get placed in a trained team, and hinder their performance. 2. Willkommen bei The Sons of Devil kurz SOD.

Hello there, we are a small, former Project Reality Clan of 10 - 15 Austrian and German Members. If you're fluent in German, at least 18 years old and like to team up and have fun with us visit us on our Homepage or Teamspeak 3 Server!

  8. Just a quick thought: There seems to be a request from a lot of players for the implementation and development of customisation. Realistically, it would deter from realism if things like weapon skins and vast player customisation options were implemented. However, a thought is that there could be a feature of Insignia and Patches. My ideas are as follows: - Specific Arm, Helmet or Torso Patches can be unlocked through achievements, challenges and awards. (This could range from Specific Units of each team, like VDV and different US Infantry Divisions) - Each time a new squad is formed on a team, they are randomly assigned a squad patch, so their in-game player model will have a patch depending on what squad they have joined. This patches could be those of real life divisions and forces. - Players could create their own small arm patches, in a way to encourage inter-squad competitiveness. Let me know what you think and feel free to share your own ideas and opinions. ~TSO

  12. This isnt a clan its just a steam group for Aussies and Kiwis to join, i know its abit early having a steam group but when it comes to the steam release there should be a fair few members. So it will be an easy way to find guys to group up with and expand your clan/community http://steamcommunity.com/groups/SquadAUNZ#members -------------------- As a side note if your looking for a bunch of mates to have a game with every now and again, not take things to serious and yet still enjoy the game check us out =] We have alot of experience within the Arma 3 milsim community so we know a think of two about communication. We are converting to Squad and once it goes early access on steam our numbers will grow. We believe in teamwork and tactics but most of all remembering that its a game, fun and talking shit to each other is apart of it aswell. Requirements: 18+ Microphone Teamspeak Sense of humour http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Mwahxoxo
  13. Need Help with clan tags

Hi community, I need some help and was wondering if anyone knew how I can fix my problem. My clan tags [sFSS] are not showing up when I play. My old steam profile name keeps showing up even though I have changed it and logged into the squad portal with it. My steam profile nickname shows up properly in other games just not this one. When people view me on steam it shows up correct as well. How can I get my current steam nickname to show up in squad? Thanks [sFSS] TheWildBean-MGST aka.... Thewildbean61

  15. THE MISSION Have you ever wanted to be part of something? Have you ever wanted to be part of a team? The Dark Sector Gaming community is about a special type player who wants to get the most out of their team experience. We don’t want you to run off and lone wolf that objective, we would rather you jump on that grenade and save you’re brothers!!! We base our community on being structured, not serious. Gaming is all about having fun. The Dark Sector community doesn't stop there though. PC gaming is one of the most underrated gaming mediums. Let's join together and build a great community of like minded individuals. We are currently recruiting players for leadership positions and all else below. If you think you have what it takes to be responsible, to be a leader, to make good moral and ethical decisions, we might just have a spot for you. Above all else we are recruiting mature players. INSIGHT TO DSG DSG was the brain child of two friends. We knew that there was a lot of tactical mil sim communities out there, but they were extremely inaccessible to a lot of people. It always seemed to be a lot of strings attached and rules involved to joining these other communities. We also learned that a lot of them expected an unrealistic amount of time devoted to the community. With having kids and a family I know that I could never join such a thing. This is the beauty of DSG. Its a no strings attached community and only expects as much as people can give. This community is perfect for the weekend warrior type, that is looking for something a little more substantial then just popping into a server with random players. CONTACT AHEAD!!! There currently 3 ways you can contact me for information about our community 1. Teamspeak : IP - dsg.teamspeak3.com 2. DSG community G+ page : https://plus.google.com/u/1/b/111527282514135689464/communities/103603788689526963632 3. Steam : http://steamcommunity.com/id/Ephdup Give DSG a thought. Come stop by the community page, steam message, or drop into our team speak. thank you all, Ephdup

  17. Welcome to the Clan Recruitment Section. Firstly this post is in no way intended to teach you to suck eggs, If you want to jump straight in and join a clan then feel free, this post is merely guidance for those who are new to gaming, multi-player or clans. It is intended as a general guide, food for thought if you like. Secondly, what is a clan? (In a gaming perspective) A clan is a group of people whom share a passion or a vision regarding a particular game or genre of games. Clans are generally populated by people who enjoy playing a particular play style or with some form of structure. When is a clan not a clan? With the readily available free forums, Steam, chat software it is possible to form a group with friends or like-minded people whom you enjoy playing games with. They are generally more relaxed and don’t have fees for membership or server costs nor do they tend to have set rules. Now I have greeted a number of the new joiners to Squad, most of you have crossed over from games like Arma and Project Reality (PR) so have a firm grasp of what you are looking for, others are new with no real experience. I really like this community and I feel majority of the time everybody has a good experience, however on occasion people do get frustrated with people and on really rare occasions people do fall out. So, my advice to all those with little or no experience and even to some of those just new to Squad... · Get online and play the game (As much as possible)!! · Join in with the players, interact, talk, chew fat and most importantly 'communicate'. · If you find someone who matches your play style then hook up regularly, heck even add them to Steam. · Only once you have a grasp of the game and the community with whom you play, then look to form a group, a clan or even re-visit this section. · Those wishing to join a clan, research them, read their forums, watch their YouTube videos, and if you have any questions, speak to their members and Training Officers (TO). · Then if you like them and they like you.... apply. Remember it's pointless rushing anything, this game is still in its infancy, jumping straight into a clan may seem the cool thing to do but it has to be taken seriously, its commitment and demands loyalty and what clan's do not want is to be messed around, have unnecessary disruption and end up having to kick someone from their group. Even if you have little or no experience don't be afraid of Clan's, if you are enthusiastic and can follow instruction, the clan will/should bring your skills up to scratch. Some further valid points to consider by other members; Structure: Clans / communities are structured differently. Some are just a collection of friends where one does all the work (personality driven), some are communities with a flat structure and one-member one-vote (member driven), and some are based on military style of leadership with hierarchical rankings and progression (rank driven). These all work very well but one will inevitably suit you better than others. Consider it before joining. Time Zone: There are a couple of things to consider here. Pick a clan / community where the majority of players play in your gaming period. The obvious two being EU/UK and US. There is no point in joining a clan with 500 members, when they all play as you sleep at home. However if you are in the UK, work nights and play a lot during the mornings, you may find a community in a different time zone to be more beneficial. Minimum age: Find out of the clan / community allows members younger than 18. Always best to know this BEFORE you find yourself outranked by a squeaker, high on cola, being shouted at by his parents, and demanding you follow him to your death because he has to go do his homework. Skill based or casual: Some clans form specifically to gather elite players together. Others are casual collections of players of all skills and personalities. Be sure to understand what you are looking for before you join. Don’t join a casual group and then complain about the “noobs” that are playing, and don’t join an elite team and complain when you get cut from the roster. Most important though is to find a clan / community / group that you get on with. You are looking for the few personalities you can play with. Best way to do that, as Gurman said, is to play the game first. There is an excellent comms system in game so you should have ample opportunity to spot players you enjoy playing with. If you do, go look them and their clans/communities up. There are plenty of fantastic clan's or groups listed here and I am sure you will find what you are looking for! See you on the battlefield!

  21. So I think that when clans are eventually added it would be awesome for the clan leader to be able to design a clan weapon skin. I was thinking this could be the same skin for every player or there could be a base skin to which each member could add their own personal touch. I'm not sure how clans are going to work and I assume the developers don't know fully yet either but I'm assuming they will be able to be made by anybody as long as they meet in-game requirements like a skill level and minimum members to start kind of thing. This is a long shot but instead of or with the clan skin there could be a clan hat that the members' player models wear into battle or maybe just a patch on their shoulders. Also when the player base is larger it would be nice to have the ability to join a game with your clan and be automatically put into a squad together, maybe even choosing who will be squad leader/kit before hand. Also something that would be awesome is if you have a large clan that you can group members into squads and they will always play together unless swapped manually. I assume this will be added but a game mode/matches only for clans to fight eachother would be awesome and this would begin the competitive aspect of the game and allow for a clan leaderboard and organised tournaments with the top clans. TY for reading my idea, i hope this will influence the developers. Unless of course they have long since discussed these topics which they probably have. Please leave your opinions on this and list your own ideas for this.
  22. i enjoy team based shooters like Red orchestra 2 for example i like to play with others but the kicker is team speak lags me especially when theirs a lot of ppl talking at one time so i would only be able to use steams voice chat and in game voice chat
