  1. FANTASTIC reply. You just about nailed it.
  2. I agree with what you are saying but I believe you may have mis-understood my post. I explained that I think that if there were more tiers in the chain of command it would be helpful, where the squad leader can give an order to the assistant squad leader to build a defensive fob while he goes to the ridge to scope out the enemies movements to plan a tactic. or something along these lines. it's a fresh idea.
  3. When you put it like that it makes a lot of sense and you have a strong argument/opinion, and I agree fully with following the SL orders to the death. What I'm leaning towards more is the SL giving me an order to follow the designated fireteam leader which he appoints ect.
  4. Sounds soooo much better
  5. Yes the engineer role sounds interesting! I very much look forward to seeing how they implement this, maybe with having the need for engineers to construct and maintain deployables like MG turrets, Vehicles and Rocket turrets ect.
  6. I was waiting for an answer like this. And I do very much agree. I WAS going to draw reference that this would create a squad within a squad. I guess at the moment with the low population having one or two squads it makes it seem a good idea, but you are right and I see the point about the FOB building is a silly point. The main point is I don't see any negatives and only positives to having a Deputy Squad Leader in a Squad of nine, especially if you are on a 25v25 an you have two big squads of 9, and both squads have separate primary roles but within one squad there are two minor objectives that need to be fulfilled. There are a vast number of ways that this role can be utilised even if its "Squad Leader: I would like FOUR on me and THREE on the Dep Squad Lead, I will take the left side of the road and the Dep will take the right" And an idea to compliment this would be for the squad leader and dep to be a different colour when it comes to the voice chat writing on the bottom left and when on the map.
  7. I am a huge fan of constructing in FOBs as squad leader. I enjoy building large defensive FOBs in compounds and also in open areas, and i'm also a fan of the smaller attacking FOBs. (You get the point). EDIT: I have decided to scrap this line, as it draws away from my intentions on the idea of a deputy squad leader, and i understand you can just make a squad for FOB building. I am not such a big fan of being a Squad leader when it comes to directing the squad, communicating with other squads and making the key decisions in game. I would much rather take orders and give valued suggestions to the squad leader and let them decide. The point i'm getting at is that I believe it would be a really good idea to have a Squad Leader role and a sort of "Deputy Squad Leader" (name sucks i know, lol). The role of the "Deputy Squad Leader" could then be similar to the squad leader in his powers for example laying down deployables and it can be a sort of designated person which the squad leader can give orders to fulfill while he communicates with the other squads and scopes out tactics with his binoculars. The "Deputy Squad Leader" could be stripped of the power to lay down FOBs but still have the power to put down rally points (Maybe a min spawn one to make it weaker than the actual Squad Leader's. Not only am I talking about the FOB building, the main point is I don't see any negatives and only positives to having a Deputy Squad Leader in a Squad of nine, especially if you are on a 25v25 an you have two big squads of 9, and both squads have separate primary roles but within one squad there are two minor objectives that need to be fulfilled. There are a vast number of ways that this role can be utilised even if its "Squad Leader: I would like FOUR on me and THREE on the Dep Squad Lead, I will take the left side of the road and the Dep will take the right" - It just adds that essence of making it easier to communicate. Instead of not knowing who is who on the map and who to direct where. I understand this above idea is pretty sloppy but it's a new idea, let me know what you guys think?! I also understand that two separate squads can work together but this idea gives the option to still all be able to hear eachother in squad chat for callouts ect instead of being a separate squad close to eachother and only the leaders being able to communicate. NOTE: And an idea to compliment this would be for the squad leader and dep to be a different colour when it comes to the voice chat writing on the bottom left and on the dots representing your squad and team mates on the map, have the squad lead and dep squad lead a different color. - (I understand that there needs to be an element of realism to a part mil-sim FPS game but in my opinion this would have a small impact on realism but would be a HUGE help to comminucation). Thanks for the feedback and interest been/being shown, there have been some good replies from more experienced PR players. Some of the feedback has thrown a few of my arguments out of the window but I do strongly believe that within the squads there needs to be some kind of differentiation / more tiers in the chain of command (but everyone answers directly to the SL regardless) i.e. Fireteam leader, assistant squad leader. Whatever the role may be called or designated to, something like a different color map dot and name color in voice chat would be extremely helpful. As for making roles with powers somewhere between a fighter and a squad leader i think it could be advantageous but obviously that'd be for the devs to decide and I assume they'd have thought extensively over the matter as it's a basic. Anyway, cheers:) Best post i've seen yet that I'd like viewers to see, by BansheeThreeOne:
  8. I'd just like to ask if anyone knows of a way to change the name that is displayed to your teammates in game. The ingame name i have now is my gaming name i've used over the years which is basically letters put together. (Torvano) Alot of people find it difficult to pronounce this and everyone says it in a weird way and it's just not a name that rolls off the tounge and I'd just like to change it to something easier to say for voice comms. I have tried changing my name in the portal and i have tried changing my steam name but it didn't seem to work (Maybe it takes a long time to recognise i've changed my steam name idk) I obviously cannot check right now as the servers arent up. (Which peaks my curiosity, when are the servers back up next?) Cheers! Torvano. (soon to be someone else hopefully ;P)
