  1. The game is becoming unplayable for some of us.

I should mention that I have had a similar issue with my resolution since V10, but unfortunately no solution yet. I use a 1080p HDTV as a monitor, but its a little dated and has no ability to set overscan settings. So by default my 1920x1080 resolution extends beyond the edges of the screen and cuts things off, with absolutely no way to change that from the monitor (literally in the manual it says 'screen will be cut off slightly if used in PC mode'). I managed to work around this for the longest time by using Nvidia control panel's option to resize desktop, and that still works for everything else on my PC. But since V10 I began to have issues. First issue I had was the compass not appearing on my screen. I eventually deduced that it was still there, just at its actual location (off the screen) and was not being moved up by Nvidia's resizing process. this could be fixed by changing Squad to run in fullscreen mode (typically I played on borderless). The second issue I had is what you have described in your posts OP, where the game starts up in some god-awful resolution that (in my case) only shows the top left corner of the window on my screen, and what is shown is stretched disproportionately. If I alt-tab and come back to the game it then appears in a different resolution that fits the screen horizontally, but only occupies about half of the screen vertically, and the window is compressed vertically. It gets weirder. If I go into settings and click on "apply settings" without changing anything the screen would return to normal, compass and all, and I can go on with my life. That was working for me until V11, where it appears some of the menu padding has changed, and now the "apply settings" button appears off screen for me. Now that I've seen I'm not the only person with this issue, I felt the need to document my side of it. Unfortunately it still seems like a very small group of people this would affect and likely won't get much attention from devs. Hopefully this information can provide useful at some point. For now I will keep looking for deals on TV's
  2. paul_onesix's Videos!

Forgot I had one of these threads... anywho I got around to editing a couple videos lately. I will leave here for anyone still following this thread. Also started a little 'Shorts' series showing off some funny and interesting moments.
  3. [Video] - Believe (Halo 3 Inspired)

hey nice work! I guess there is an issue with flame effects speed not being controllable? would be nice if there was a way to stop them from moving.
  4. Alpha 9.13 Released

    very cheeky
  5. Movies that convey the atmosphere of Squad

Like others said: Restrepo is pretty much a must watch for me, and generation kill is awesome. If you're like me and you've seen each more times than you're willing to admit, a movie called sandcastle just came out on Netflix and it's pretty good too. Hurt locker is an honourable mention.
  6. Insivible walls Al Basrah

you can send them to me and i will forward to QA
  7. Where did engine.ini go?

I think the devs are packing the ini files differently now. just checked theyre all in .pak files now i believe
  8. paul_onesix's Videos!

New video of some V9 action with Ghrane, dragoon (QD in game), and Marco. Get into some pretty tense firefights so hope you enjoy!
  9. Arma at War - My impressions/Gameplay

cool cool, glad you guys enjoyed!
  10. Hey all. Back with a new video of Arma at war playtest. Still in alpha but coming along nicely. Check out the video here and check out their website for FAQ and other videos!
  11. Gun Thrusting

Interesting suggestion. Though I think it falls into the 'cool idea for the once in 70 rounds you get a chance to use it' From a realism perspective, if you're in a position where you have to butt the enemy's skull with your muzzle, the next thing to happen will be hand to hand combat. Point being I don't see it being lethal (against a stationary head with a running start, probably. but not against a geared up, aware soldier with a rifle in front of him) If squad had a stun mechanic where things like explosions and shots that hit your rifle would knock you down or weapon out of your hand, I think this suggestion would fit in well. Unfortunately I don't think that will be the case for a while (but I can dream)
  12. New Player, Need A Friend LOL

i think most clans are inviting to new players, as long as they dont muck around. look for common clan tags like [M], [303rd], [Redcoats], [FFO] and stick with the guys you like. not a clan but if you see [TNT] tags ingame come hang out with us. always up for fun/serious squad players. Oh and welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay
  13. Head shot feedback

I'd attribute your problem to a combination of server lag and hit detection. I've noticed what you're describing since very early in squad, and some servers are better than others, some builds are better than others. But i really doubt the devs purposely designed headshots to be more than one hit kill with any rifle cartridge. Just flick on full auto/burst and hope for the best! Some tips for reducing this are picking low ping AND green health servers (though you likely already know that) happy shooting!
