  1. Any chance of a modding wiki?

    Are you suggesting we add modding content in with all the game content? They are quite different content, however I guess that could work?

    I totally agree with these sentiments. Things like a wiki and proper knowledge-sharing forums are far superior to discord because of the insanely temporary nature of the information shared chat programs like discord. I also agree with this - IRC has been around a lot longer discord, and I've never heard anyone suggest they don't need a wiki or forum because of IRC. I guess it depends on the size of your community. If it's a handful of people then sure, forum or wiki is overboard, but if it's a larger community then you need a better resource. So much easier to point someone to a wiki page than to have to cut and paste the same things over again. Anyway, seems the argument isn't really if we need a wiki, it's when. I'd suggest might as well start one now and modify it as the releases roll around. It would be a real help to people that want to join the modding community but can't hang around on discord to wait for help.

    I'm REALLY looking forward to this! I think most people here understand that modding is a lower priority than core game mechanics - and (allegedly) you guys can't work 24 hours a day... but the modding scene could take a fair bit of the load off you, and breathe a lot of life and enthusiasm into the community. I'm amazed at the mods people have already spent a lot of time and effort putting together with such limited resources (and minimal chance of wider release atm). If you really want to hit the ground running on this - can I suggest you let a few people test the SDK before its release? And of course if you had a wiki set up for it perhaps they could start with some of the documentation so that when it is finally released it will be a bonanza! Either way, great game guys, keep going!

    I'm quite familiar with UE4 - been using it since it first came out, mainly in code though. The problem is all of the custom squad behaviour, and knowing exactly which parts to tweak to get the behavior you want. I've spent quite a lot of time with trial and error having to figure things out, which to some degree is to be expected, but a single wiki page would have made things 10x faster. Now after having to bug people on the forums and on discord to get that knowledge, if I move on to another project its all lost. Even if some of the wiki is out of date after an update - it's better than nothing, and would be nothing compared to UE4 itself. If I had access to the c++ code then it would also be a lot easier, but I can understand why they don't want to release that

    Hi Devs - any chance of a wiki for modding? I'd be more than happy to contribute pieces here and there as I uncover them. From my own point of view using the SDK is incredibly frustrating atm - so anything that helps get modders up and running faster is likely to be a very good investment. I know its still in alpha and things will change, but at least it would be a starting point. Just my 2c.

If you're trying to disable it on the player - there are some settings I came across like sprint multiplier etc - if you set that to 1.0 then presumably you won't be able to move any faster than a walk... It may still use stamina though, although i think i also saw a boolean to disable sprint affecting stamina.
  7. Yeah, had a good look - there isn't any state that I can set in any blueprint exposed class I can find. Following wasti's suggestion on discord, I'm just setting the WalkingSpeed manually now - means that it won't calculate stamina or any of those things, or use the correct multipliers, but it's better than nothing. I'm sure there must be a Sprint() fn that's not exposed to blueprints under there though that would do all of this for me.
  8. That's a good thought. I just had a look and I can find lots of functions for testing to see if we are running or not, but can't see any variables I can set that have "run" or "sprint" in the name. I'll check again in the morning, maybe I'm just missing something there.
  9. I'm trying to move some of the bots around in blueprints. I've created a custom AIController, and I can get them to spawn, move around waypoints etc. I've managed to get the bots to crouch/uncrouch using blueprints, and can even do lean right/left, but here is what I can't do - can someone tell me if it's even possible, or point me in the right direction? 1) Sprint - I can't get the bots to sprint, and can't find a sprint/walk command anywhere 2) Attach a weapon - I've tried adding a weapon to the inventory and switching to it, but no weapon shows up in game. 3) How to fire/aim a weapon? I can't even start with this until I get past 2! Any help at all would be greatly appreciated - I've tried asking in discord without much luck - is here a better spot?

    Did you ever get an answer to this? I'm also trying to equip a weapon on the bots without much luck. This is what I'm trying at the moment....

  12. Way to train?

    Sounds like finding a clan is the way to go... but do they train? I have no problem learning in game, but if I've only got 30 mins to spare I feel a bit bad joining and then leaving before the match is finished. Also I like polishing specific skills (apparently shooting straight is something I need to learn), which I find easier to do if i can drill it in with high-frequency repetition.
  13. Are there any bot mods yet?

    I'm interested in having a go at some bots to train against for specific skills - and am looking for ideas in another topic. At the moment the mods aren't really shareable - so it's a bit of an exercise in futility. From what I hear the next version of the SDK is just around the corner which should open up more possibilities. That being said, i'm still quite keen to give it a go and see what's possible at least. Hopefully I don't have to throw too much out with the update.
  14. I'm interested in working on some AI/bots for the purposes of training and tutorial maps. Personally I find it much easier to try and learn the basics offline in a more controlled environment than trying to learn everything online from random players, and making lots of rookie mistakes that affect the gameplay for everyone else. I'm hopeful that it will make it easier for people like me (no experience) to at least hit the ground running with some confidence, and not slow everyone else down. It would also be a good opportunity for the community to shape player behavior - ie encourage good behavior and discourage bad ones. Subjective I know. Anyway, if you have any suggestions for training scenarios or behavior you would like to see in a map, throw it in here. I'm not promising that I'll get it done, but even if I don't hopefully it will help someone else that might be interested (or maybe help the devs?). Also if anyone is interested in making the physical maps, let me know. At this stage I'm thinking very small scenarios, to teach specific skills and tactics, for example: Solo skills: Clearing a building - maybe a single multistory building you need to clear. Teaches entering a room, checking blind spots etcc Moving across the map without being too visible (ie, using cover, no skylining) Basic target practice on moving enemies - up close, and long range. Basic Medic skills - maybe a bunch of downed teammates with bots firing on your position. Squad leader skills (never done it, so no idea what would be needed here!) Vehicle driving / shooting skills Teamwork skills: Following squad leader instructions ("on me" , "defend south", "cover fire", "take Jones and flank left" etc) Clearing a building Cover fire while moving Over to you guys/gals!
  15. Way to train?

    I'm new to the game, and would really like to improve my skills - particularly skills that involve team work, like clearing rooms and suppressing fire. Playing the game is fine, but its always with a random bunch of people and I often find it hard to coordinate with the other squad members. Is there a way to train in the game? If I managed to find a few other players interesting in doing this - is the only way to try and join the same squad on an existing server? Can you make a private server to run drills on?
