  1. HOW TO BE A GOOD SQUAD LEADER

Hopefully Offworld will create some short but useful tutorial videos to include in the game so that all players will have at least some clue, tactically. I would like to see not only simple things like maneuvering and counter-maneuvering (spacing and formation, movement to an objective, calling out targets, rules of engagement, suppression and flanking, using cover and defilade, etc), but also more macro ideas like the strengths and weaknesses of each faction and how to capitalize on or exploit them. I haven't played nearly as much as I would like, but in the time that I have, I have had squad leaders that are pretty good and have at least some tactical sense, some that just kinda wing it in the general direction of an objective, and some that are absolutely terrible and will repeatedly beat the squad's head against a wall with no coordination. Luckily, most of the time the experience is pretty good. Once I'm more comfortable with the ins and outs of things I look forward to bringing my milsim experience to the squad leader role and seeing how it goes... Which I can only do during those times that I can be very active on the mic without annoying the hell out of my wonderful wife
  2. Micropone not working

In the Windows recording devices tab, disable all recording devices except the one you are actually using. I had the same problem (mic connected to sound card worked fine in everything except Squad); setting the mic input you are using as the default was not enough. I had to actually disable all other unused inputs, and then it worked fine. For those who don't know: to disable an unused input device, just right click it and select disable. It will disappear from the list. If you even need to re-enable a device that you disabled, right click anywhere in the recording devices window in empty space, and select Show Disabled Devices to see them again. Hope this helps!
  3. Hoping TrackIR will be supported one day; I have it for flight sims and (eventually) Star Citizen. I used it in Arma 3 also, but sadly that "game" is too much sandbox and not enough game for me, now that Squad is getting so good! The AI in Arma just doesn't do it for me, and PvP is pretty non-existent and completely fractured. But, I digress...
  4. Nvidia Surround

I had the same experience. I'm sure eventually it will work properly.

  6. Mic output not working

I had this problem with my mic, which is connected to a Soundblaster Z sound card. This may help you too: To fix it, I had to go into the Windows recording devices list and disable all but the input my microphone is actually using. So, for example, my system had Microphone (Soundblaster) and Digital-in (Soundblaster) both enabled, with microphone set as the default recording device. I right clicked Digital-in and selected disable, and did the same with some other device that I wasn't using. My mic worked fine after that. My mic had always worked fine in every other game, in discord, in anything else. It appears that Squad, in its current state of development, cannot cope with multiple input devices being enabled on the system, even though only one is set to be the default device. So, disable all but the one you are actually using. Hope this helps! ** I see now that you already tried disabling everything else (read your post too quickly while at work... Haha) I'll leave my reply up anyway in case is helps someone who had the same problem as me **
  7. Worth a buy in august 2017

If you like Battlefield but have always wanted more realism, then you will not be disappointed with Squad! Welcome!
  8. SQUAD In-Game Terms List (Glossary)

That's the part missing from your definition, I think - it is only back-capping if you are capping a point close to home while others are capping the next point farther away. Otherwise, it's just capping. I also have heard it used to describe capping a point behind a contested point, as someone else said.
  9. A lil disturbed with some "Expert" players.

Sadly, it's a generational thing. It seems that every generation is less respectful and has less tact and maturity than the generation that gave birth to it. There are exceptions, of course. The children are so quick to spew hatred and are so intolerant (even those who preach tolerance of their views to others)... And so many "adults" are still children!
  10. Thanks for the response, Sgt. Keep up the great work! What I've played so far makes me happy to have supported the effort early :)
  11. game looks blurry

Play at higher graphics settings or wait until better textures are being used? This is still an alpha build, remember - what you see now is not necessarily what the end product will be. This is the earliest version of the game that allows for playtesting core gameplay mechanics. Textures, models, animations, game parameters, etc will change as development moves forward towards a full retail release.
  12. No to this! Splitting the community up in a multiplayer-only game is death. You would have those who have it, those who don't - bye-bye player base.
  13. The whole point of an alpha is to introduce and tweak core gameplay mechanics over time, in a controlled fashion. Check these out: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/1678-boot-camp-an-introductory-series/
  14. This is an alpha release, not a finished retail product.
  15. What change first GPU or CPU?

For the GPU, it all comes down to budget. The more you spend and the more recent the chipset, the better the performance. Once you down to a decision between, lets say, a GTX970 and a GTX980, you do get to a point where the extra money isn't worth it for the small increase in performance, unless money is not a factor and you want to go super high end. How much are you comfortable with spending on it? I would be happy to help you make a decision. I've been building gaming PCs for myself, family, and friends for about 15 years now.
